Rokko Island (Japanese: 六甲アイランド) The second artificial island in Kobe, Japan located in the southeast region of Kobe Port. The island is reclaimed land which was constructed between 1973 and 1992. It has a 3.4 km by 2 km rectangular shape, and covers 5.80 km². The Great Hanshin Earthquake left the island to be one of the hardest hit areas in Kobe. The island offers visitors a chance to view the future of container vessels. This island contains: hotels (The Kobe Sheraton), sports and conventions facilities, markets, a water amusement park, sea view apartment housings, the Kobe Fashion Museum, container yards, wharves, and port facilities.
