Baron Roman Romanovitch Rosen (February 24, 1847January 22, 1922) was a Russian diplomat. He served as the Russian ambassador to Japan and the United States during the Russo-Japanese War. Biography

The baron was from a long line of Russian nobles that included musicians and military leaders. Rosen, who served as the Russian ambassador in Tokyo in 1897-98 and 1902-04, had attempted to prevent the war. Rosen was a member of the State Council of Imperial Russia. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Rosen left Russia and wrote a series of articles about European diplomacy and politics for The Saturday Evening Post, including "Forty Years of a Diplomat's Life" published in 41 parts in 1919-1921.[2] The State Council (Государственный Совет) was the supreme state advisory body to Tsar in Imperial Russia. ...
