Prince succeeded Bill Snyder at Kansas State following the 2005 season. When he started his first season at Kansas State, in 2006, he was 36 years old and the third-youngest head coach in the Division I-Bowl Subdivision. During the 2006 season, Prince led Kansas State to its first winning record since 2003 with a 7-6 mark, as well as a berth in the inaugural Texas Bowl.
