Ross and Cromarty was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1832 to 1983. It combinerd Ross-shire and Cromartyshire in one constituency, and elected one Member of Parliament (MP). A constituency is any cohesive corporate unit or body bound by shared structures, goals or loyalty. ... In some bicameral parliaments of a Westminster System, the House of Commons has historically been the name of the elected lower house. ... In 1983, the boundary changed to bring in the Isle of Skye and Raasay, to form the new parliamentary constituency of Ross, Cromarty and Skye. An Easter Ross area was taken from the constituency in 1997 and it became Ross, Skye and Inverness West. In 2005 the constituency was abolished and the sitting MP was re-elected as MP for the new constituency of Ross, Skye and Lochaber.
