Ross Thomas (1926-1995) (1530 words)
Ross Thomas (1710 words)
Thomas is always there in the background, though never obtrusively so, making wry, deflating comments on his characters, exaggerating things a bit just to emphasize their silliness, poking fun at the vainglorious and pompous.
Ross Thomas is a craftsman, a professional in the most admirable sense of the word, and he does what only the best writers can: he leaves you wanting more.
Thomas is better at presenting characteristics than characters in "Voodoo, Ltd." The denizens of this book remain largely undeveloped while spending too much of their time assembling to discuss the plot and to signal the next twist.
