The Rover 600 Series is a mid-size automobile launched early in 1993. On the outside it was basically a reworked Honda Accord, and the 1.8 L SOHC, 2.0 L SOHC and 2.3 L DOHC straight-4 petrol engines were all provided by Honda, however the 2.0 L turbo-Diesel and 2.0 L turbocharged T-series petrol engine were developed by Rover. The 600's interior was classy with wood and chrome as well as impressive equipment levels, although rear legroom was rather constrained. The interior is derived from the Japanese built Honda Ascot Innova, the only difference being the added passenger SRS Airbag on some models. Carpet was also not evident along the bottom trim of the dashboard as it was on the Ascot Innova. Its Honda-derived chassis gave a comfortable but hardly sporting ride. Prices were reasonably competitive, and considerably lower than the value of its premium rivals like the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
