Roy Mayorga (born April 6, 1970 in New York City, New York).He started getting into drums when he was about 4 or 5 years old. Continued playing and playing until he was about maybe 13, 14 got into a couple hardcore bands playing punk rock music.He was also in some bands with his brother.First gig he played in a community center at a show opening up for bands like Naked Rig and 7 seconds in a little punk band called Youth Quake. Roy is a drummer currently playing with Sepultura. He was also the drummer for Soulfly, and he did a remix for Sepultura called Chaos A.D. (Refuse-Resist), which led him to play in Soulfly and occasionally played live with the bands Medication, Mass Mental, Shelter, Abloom, Allele. He was also a former member of the bands Thorn and Nausea. He also did studio tracks for Vanilla Ice, Dave Navarro, Amen & Ozzy Osbourne, and recently did some studio tacks for the Roadrunner United - The All-Stars Sessions, with Dino Cazares, Paul Grey, Andreas Kisser, Logan Mader, Nadja Peulen and also participated in the 25th Anniversary Show of Roadrunner. He is currently working in studio, doing some engineering for bands & for movies. He is also collaborating with Stone Sour, playing the drums on their sophomore album, due to Joel Eckmans' absence.


On May 10, 2006 Mayorga officially joined Stone Sour replacing Eckman. The band stated on their website "Aside from being a cool guy, Roy did one hell of a job playing on the album and we're looking forward to going on the road with him in a few weeks. He recruited a lineup of Roy Mayorga on drums (formerly of Thorn), Jackson Bandeira on guitar (formerly of Chico Science) and former Sepultura roadie Marcello D. Rapp on bass with Cavalera on guitar and vocals.
On the band's website, Max Cavalera said that he founded the band "with the idea of combined sounds and spiritual beliefs." As well as leaving one of the world's most popular heavy metal bands, he had to deal with the unsolved murder of his stepson and best friend Dana Wells.
