Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893December 20, 1971). Born to Elias Disney and the former Flora Call in Chicago, Illinois, was Walt Disney's older brother.


Roy was Walt's business partner and an important supporting figure to him. While Walt did the dreaming, Roy did the financing, making sure that enough money was available for their business.


He married Edna Francis in April 1925 and from this marriage he is the father of Roy Edward Disney, who was born on January 10, 1930.


Walt Disney did not survive to see the opening of the first Walt Disney World theme park, the Magic Kingdom, so Roy O. Disney saw to the final preparations. Before the park was completed, Roy decided to put his brother's name on it. He said, "It's going to be Walt Disney World, so people will always know that this was Walt's dream." On the day he died, Roy was due to speak at the Disneyland Christmas parade.


A statue of Roy O. Disney, seated on a park bench beside Minnie Mouse, is located in Town Square at the Magic Kingdom.
