The Bank was incorporated in England in 1968 and was formed from the merger of National Provincial Bank Limited and Westminster Bank Limited, which had themselves been formed through a series of mergers involving banks with origins dating back to the 17th century.
National Westminster BankPlc was acquired by The RoyalBank of ScotlandGroupplc on 6 March 2000 and since then it has operated and been managed as a member of the overall RBS Group.
