Rugby is a local government district and borough in eastern Warwickshire, England. It comprises the town of Rugby (the administrative headquarters) and the surrounding countryside.


The town of Rugby was given borough status in 1932, and had the status of an urban district. The present borough was formed on April 1, 1974 when the Rugby urban district was merged with several surrounding rural districts.


Nearly 89,000 people live in the Rugby borough. of those roughly 63,000 live in the town of Rugby, and the remaining 26,000 live in the rural areas surrounding the town.
