Rustboro City in the animé - Rustboro City is quite a large City, and is also on the coast. On the outskirts of the City, there is a Pokémon Contest hall. This is where May is inspired to become a Pokémon Co-ordinator, rather than battling in Gyms. Pikachu also begins to learn Iron Tail here.
- When they arrive at Rustboro City, Max enrolls in a begginers course in the Pokémon Trainer's School, which is taught by Roxanne, (who is a teacher and doesn't run the school.) The next day, Ash battles Roxanne and wins a Stone Badge.
- The group then explores the larger areas of the City, and meet Team Aqua for the first time, who they defeat at the Devon Corporation. They escape, however, and steal Captain Briney's boat. Captain Briney later takes them to Dewford Island.
