Rusty Foster, real name Lawrence C. Foster III[1], is the founder of Kuro5hin, and the creator of Scoop, a collaborative media application used by websites. He is widely known in the weblog community for running a donation drive which netted over US$70,000. [2] Kuro5hin (K5) (pronounced corrosion) is a community discussion website (sometimes known as an example of Commons-based peer production) focused on technology and culture. ... Kuro5hin is hosted for free by sponsors, and the Collaborative Media Foundation that Foster promised to set up with the money never materialised, so it is not known what the money was actually used for. A long-running joke on Kuro5hin is that Foster is now rich, wears a monocle and enjoys yachting, a joke that originated from the last frame of a comic produced around the time of the pledge drive portraying a now rich Foster wearing a monocle and a crown while sitting in front of a yacht and motorcycle. Foster later entered the political arena, partnering up with weblog moguls such as Markos Moulitsas Zúniga of Daily Kos.
