Ryu was killed during the White Base's attack from Crowley Hamon. He developed a fondness for the crew of the White Base and proved to be exceptionally skilled at piloting core fighters.
He also served as one of the pilots for the original two pilot version of the guntank which was later modified to only require one pilot after Ryu died.
