The SEAT Altea is a compact MPV built by SEAT and named after Altea, Spain. The vehicle was launched in 2004 as the first example of Seat's new corporate look. The car is based on the same platform as several other SEAT and Volkswagen group cars, and is a family-oriented 5-seater that attempts to portray a more sporty image than most of its rivals. The Seat Altea has been drawn by Italian Walter Dè Silva. The new Toledo is identical except for the addition of a larger boot. SEAT is continuing to expand its range, this time with the launch of a new model that will round off the manufacturer's offer in the target segment: the SEAT Altea XL.
Consequently, the 409-litre capacity of the Altea's boot has increased to 532 litres in the Altea XL, while sliding the rear seats forwards by 14 centimetres expands the boot's volume further to 635 litres, the largest in its class.
Compared to the Altea, the rear seats in the Altea XL can be moved back by an extra two centimetres, meaning additional legroom for passengers travelling in the rear.
