While initially, ratings were steadily rising, the station's financial position took a turn for the worst in early 2005, with several employees, including Dermott Brereton, Mark Doran, and Robert Shaw not being paid. The Insiders was a Sunday morning radio show that analysed sport in the media. It was hosted by Bruce McAvaney, The Age journalist Jake Niall and former athlete David Culbert. Once it ended in early 2005 it was replaced by a sponsored Australian netball show when SEN was in financial difficulty.
