1980, a return to the single railcar unit was made with the introduction of the X 2100  a single unit 440hp railcar designed to haul trailors.  It was followed by an improved class of similar units, class X 2200.
On the left, X 4039 poses at Cravant-Bazarnes in the Yonne.  Star of the Champs-Elysées show in 2003, this unit is based in Dijon and probably runs the longest distance on SNCF lines of any privately operated railcar.
X 2800 class numbered 119 units and were introduced from 1958.
