however there is nothing to suggest that any of these men were less deserving than Ali to rule. some of these men were of the 10 that the prophet died pleased with and their rich status in no way discredited them nor did Ali's non-rich status discredit him. In fact a couple of these men willingly gave up their chance to become the next Caliphate and were no longer candidates.
