Saddleworth Moor is an area of heath moorland on the northern English Pennine hill-range between Holmfirth and Uppermill. It used to be situated wholly within the traditional county of Yorkshire (West Riding) but since the local authority reforms in 1974 and 1986 it was then split between the metropolitan counties of Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire which, after their abolishment, are now the unitary authorities of Oldham and Kirklees.
