Encyclopedia > Saida

Saida, the so called "Queen City" of Lebanon was first founded by Yakir Mahmet in 800BC. Upon arriving into the region, Yakir slammed a huge pole into the ground and proclaimed "My Land." After many years, others began to come and were treated with a kindness and sincerity that began to symbolize the country. Cities soon grew, and amoung them Saida, which is said to posess an almost mythical quality. in the year 400AD, the people of Saida made a large statue out of wood of Yakir Mahmet, which is said to bring many blessings upon the town. In 1000AD, Saida was destroyed by invading Tatars from the east, and then again in 1200AD. The statue was knocked down and burned into a crisp, while the Saidans looked on with tears brimming in their large, black eyes. In 1400AD the residents of Saida moved to other towns for fear of further invasions. From 1400 until 1800 AD, there is no written record of the town of Saida. in 1800, a young woman, apparently under the tutalage of a widely known Sage, came to the region in search of the lost town that had once housed the greatest monument to the founder of the Mother Country. After many months nothing was to be found, and the young woman and the sage were married. They both changed their names to "Saida," and had 2 daughters, both named "Saida." They travel around the country of Lebanon with 4 poles and a silver engraving of Yakir Mahmet speaking the truths of the once great city.
