Plot

Five years after the events of Dragon Ball, Son Goku takes his five-year-old son, Son Gohan (named after his adoptive grandfather) to a reunion at Muten Roshi's house at Kame House with his friends, Kuririn, Bulma, and Muten Roshi on his flying cloud, Kintoun. Meanwhile, a space pod crashes on Earth. Its occupant, a long-haired extraterrestrial with a tail, injures a curious farmer and has a brief encounter with Piccolo, Goku's arch-rival. Piccolo attempts to kill the alien, but is shocked when his Bakurihmaha technique does no damage. Before the alien can kill Piccolo however, he locates Goku and he arrives at the reunion, where introduces himself as Raditz, Goku's older brother and a member of the warrior alien race, the Saiyans. They are a race of aliens whose home planet, Vegeta, was wiped out by meteors many years ago; only four remained, Goku (originally named Kakarotto) and Raditz among them. Raditz seemed surprised when he saw that not only Goku had his tail removed, which Raditz said it was "the source of a Saiyan's true power", but didn't carry out his original mission to terminate all life forms on Planet Earth; Raditz asked if Goku had his head injured, and Goku somehow remembers, assuming that he forgot any events before; Muten Roshi confirms it when he remembers a story by Goku's grandfather that he was very violent as a baby, but on a stroke of destiny, baby Goku fell on a crevice and damaged his head, miraculously surviving, and afterwards, he changed into a peaceful child. Shortly after, Raditz notices that Gohan has a tail and he immediately assumes by that fact that he's Goku's son. Afterwards, a frustrated Raditz demands that Goku re-join them, but Goku refuses; in retaliation, Raditz defeats Goku with a single strike and kidnaps Gohan. In an attempt to coerce him, Raditz demands that Goku must kill 100 humans in 24 hours and bring the corpses to the island, so that Gohan is returned safe and sound. Afterwards, Piccolo comes out of hiding from behind Kame House and proposes that he and Goku team up to take on Raditz, for the sole reason that he wants to rule the planet for himself and that no-one else is going to interfere. Goku hates the fact that Piccolo still wants world domination, but accepts to team up, as they see it as a better chance of surviving. Goku then takes Bulma's Dragon Radar, because Gohan wore the 4-star Dragon Ball on his hat, and they take off after him. Meanwhile, Raditz locks Gohan inside his space pod to stop him crying, but his scouter, an advanced piece of Saiyan technology worn on the eye that detects a person's position and power level, reveals that Gohan's power level is at 710. Raditz initially believes that his scouter is malfunctioning, but is proven wrong when he picks up Goku and Piccolo's approaching power levels of 334 and 322 respectively. After arriving at the battlefield Goku and Piccolo remove their weighted clothing to increase their speed, but the two still struggle to keep up with the Saiyan, ending up with Raditz firing a twin energy beam; Goku just manages to dodge the beam, however, Piccolo barely avoids the beam, and ends up losing his left arm in the process, but he still finds desperate measures to defeat Raditz, developing an attack he originally meant for Goku, the Makankosappo blast. While Piccolo gathers energy for his death move, Goku holds off Raditz, who is surprised when he learns that Goku & Piccolo can gather energy in single attacks, which Goku demonstrates by using his Kamehameha blast with a power level of 924, to no effect. Angered at this discovery, Raditz launches an energy blast at him, knocking him to the ground. When Piccolo eventually fires his new technique, Raditz dodges it, with only his shoulder pad damaged. Whilst Raditz is recovering from the blast and Piccolo is fearing for his life, Goku jumps up and grabs the Saiyan's tail, leaving him powerless against Piccolo, who once again charges up another Makankosappo. Raditz pleads for his life, and begs to his brother that he does not let him be killed. Feeling for his brother, Goku lets him go, but he is immediately countered by Raditz, and then held to the ground with Raditz' foot. This article is about the Hawaiian ruler. ...

Hearing his father's screams of pain, Gohan grows angry and he breaks out of his uncle's spacepod. Raditz scouter then depicts Gohan's power level to be 1307 and the boy then manages to damage his overwhelmingly strong uncle by charging at his chest, thereby proceeding to damage his armor; this is enough for Goku to grapple with him, in turn risking his life. At Goku's order, Piccolo fires his Makankosappo at both Raditz (specifically where his armor was pierced) and Goku. This mortally injures Raditz, who laments on being killed by such "Earth scum", but in the process hits Goku as well. When the sadistic Saiyan praises Goku on his sacrifice, Piccolo then explains to a dying Raditz that his friends on Earth will use the Dragon Balls to resurrect Goku. Raditz reveals that he has been broadcasting their conversation over his scouter (which also doubled as a communicator) to the other two remaining Saiyans, Vegeta and Nappa, both much stronger than himself, who will arrive in a year's time to take the Dragon Balls for themselves, and gloats that his comrades will revive him and wipe the planet clean of life, much to Piccolo's dismay (it is soon revealed that Vegeta and Nappa will gather the Dragon Balls for immortality rather than bringing Raditz back to life, as he had hoped). Annoyed, Piccolo finishes him off. After the gang arrive, Kuririn sadly promises Goku that he'll make sure that he is resuscitated, and afterwards, Goku dies. Strangely, his body disappears, not after Piccolo revealing that Kami has big plans for Goku in the Afterlife.[1] A Dragon Ball is a fictional artifact from the manga and anime Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z, as well as Dragon Ball GT. To prepare for the arrival of the Saiyans, Piccolo takes Goku's son, Gohan, under his wing with the goal of teaching him to harness his immense power. He tells him that Goku died in the battle with Raditz and then leaves him to fend for himself for six months in a deserted wasteland, so he can build an independence for himself. After meeting Lord Enma, a powerful deity who decides who goes to the Heaven or the Hell, Goku is sent by Kami to travel across the one million killometers long Serpent Road to train under North Kaio in the Afterlife until the Saiyans arrive. Before he begins his journey to North Kaio's, Goku has Uranai Baba inform Muten Roshi to to not revive him with the Dragon Balls until the Saiyans arrive in a year, so as to guarantee that not only he finishes his training, but that the Saiyans won't use the Dragon Balls for themselves.. The remaining Z-Fighters - Kuririn, Yamucha, Tenshinhan, and Chaozu - are trained by Kami. After six months, Piccolo finally decides to train Gohan for real and Goku eventually reaches the end of Serpent Road. In the sky, he finds North Kaio's floating planet. On arrival, Goku is immediately overcome by the great amount of gravity on the planet. After mistaking North Kaio's pet monkey, Bubbles, for the martial arts master, North Kaio introduces himself and tells Goku that he will only train him if he can tell him a decent joke. After Goku succeeds in making North Kaio laugh, North Kaio informs him that the Saiyans are on a pace to reach Earth in about 88 days, which is about a few thousand years of training on Earth. However, he warns Goku not to get his hopes up, because even 88 days of training may not be enough to defeat the Saiyans, as they are even stronger than himself. In order for Goku to overcome the gravity on the planet, North Kaio tells him to try and catch the seemingly fast Bubbles, but it is hard for Goku as the planet has a gravity ten times that of Earth. Eventually, after 40 days, Goku manages to catch the speedy monkey, shocking North Kaio into thinking that he may be the one who can master his two signature techniques. A year passes; the Z-Fighters gather and Goku is immediately resurrected with the Dragon Balls right before the two Saiyans arrive, but must still travel Serpent Road to meet Kami and return to Earth; subsequently, he arrives several hours late. The Saiyans arrive at East City and they begin their attack when Nappa destroys the entire city and its inhabitants. Using their scouters, they search for the strongest power level on Earth, guessing that he must be the one who killed Raditz, unless it's Gohan. On arrival, they also recognize Piccolo as a member of another alien species, the Namekians. Right before the battle begins, Nappa plants six seeds from which sprout six Saibaimen, each with a power level of 1200 (slightly lower than Raditz) to take on the Z-Fighters, who had arrived soon after. Tenshinhan starts off the battle, and he easily defeats the first Saibaiman with an elbow smash. Although this does not finish off the Saibaimen, Vegeta swiftly destroys it anyway, telling Nappa that he had already been beaten. Yamucha is the next to fight another Saibaiman, and takes out the creature with a Kamehameha after a short struggle. But unfortunately, the Saibaiman was only playing possum, and he then clings onto Yamucha and self-destructs, killing them both. An enraged Kuririn destroys 3 more Saibaimen in one fell swoop and Piccolo finishes the final Saibaiman (who had escaped Kuririn's attack) with a mouth blast when it tried to sneak up on Gohan. However, Kuririn's attack has no effect on the Saiyans, and Nappa then charges into the fight. Tien is the first to fight the big Saiyan brute after he is picked at random, and Nappa overwhelms him so much, that he knocks off Tenshinhan's right arm. During the fight, Chaozu is killed in a suicidal gamble that does not pay off and after taking on Nappa with all his might, Tenshinhan tries to avenge his friend by using up all his energy in a one-handed Kikyoken blast aimed at Nappa, but the Saiyan manges to survive with only his armour damaged. After Vegeta demands that they all take a break for 3 hours to wait for Goku, much to Nappa's dismay, Piccolo devises a plan to defeat Nappa. After the break ends, Kuririn rushes up to Nappa and distracts him by blasting himself into the air, then Piccolo appears behind him and grabs his tail for Gohan to attack him (as Goku had done to Raditz), seemingly rendering him helpless until Nappa knocks him out and reveals that he and Vegeta have trained their tail muscles. Nappa attacks Gohan and knocks him into some mountains. After he saves Gohan from near-death, Kuririn is able to cut Nappa's cheek with his new technique, the Kienzen disk, but an enraged Nappa swiftly defeats him with a blast of his own. Before the violent Saiyan can finish the job, Piccolo suddenly regains consciousness and fires a blast to Nappa's back. Just then, Piccolo senses Goku's enormous ki approaching and when Vegeta's scouter reads that Goku's power level, which is at 5000, has greatly increased since his fight with Raditz, he orders Nappa to kill them before Goku arrives, including Piccolo, claiming that they can later use the Dragon Balls of Planet Namek. Nappa goes in to attack Gohan first, but the half-Saiyan boy summons up enough strength to knock the giant Saiyan into a mountain. Angered, Nappa fires a charged ki blast at Gohan, but Piccolo, once believed to be as purely evil as his father, sacrifices his own life to save Gohan from Nappa's deadly attack. Piccolo then dies and as a result, Kami, with whom he is intrinsically linked, is also killed (however, he disappears instead), and the Dragon Balls he created disappear forever. Gohan, enraged, attacks Nappa with a technique he learned from Piccolo, the Masenko blast, but Nappa deflects the blast with his arm (albeit damaging him slightly, surprising the burly Saiyan).[3] For other uses, see Father (disambiguation). ...

With his power completely used up, Gohan collapses and Nappa towers over him, intent on crushing the boy. Before the merciless Saiyan's foot makes contact, however, the Kintoun cloud appears and whisks Gohan to safety. While the confused Nappa stares at the magical cloud, Vegeta looks upward to see the newly arrived Goku. After seeing the bodies of his dead friends and healing Gohan and Kuririn with two halves of Karin's last Senzu bean, Goku shocks everyone by raising his power level to over 8000. The Earth's hero then challenges Nappa. The overconfident Saiyan immediately attacks, but thanks to North Kaio's training, Goku is able to easily dodge each of Nappa's blows and counter his attacks with little effort, much to Nappa's dismay. When Vegeta orders Nappa to use his head over his anger, the Saiyan starts to be a bit more of challenge for Goku, but he is shocked when Goku is able to deflect his mouth blast at point blank range. Angered, Vegeta then orders Nappa to concede and the Saiyan reluctantly agrees, but not before flying rapidly towards Gohan and Kuririn, intending to finish them off with another mouth blast. In response, and to catch up to Nappa, Goku reveals his first new technique that he learned from North Kaio, the Kaio-ken attack, a powerful technique that multiplies the user's power and speed, and he disables Nappa. Kuririn asks Goku why he didn't finish off Nappa with the Kaio-ken earlier, but Goku tells him that North Kaio told him that the Kaio-ken consumes a great amount of energy, so if he was to multiply the Kaio-ken too many times, his own ki would explode. The defeated Nappa asks Vegeta for help, but instead, out of disgust for his comrade's weakness and humiliation, Vegeta launches Nappa into the air and executes him with a powerful blast. Karin (or Korin as he is known in FUNimations English dub of the series) is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball/ (US only: Dragon Ball Z) manga and Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z anime series. ...

Before fighting, Goku and Vegeta go to a desolate area, as requested by Goku from Kuririn so their friends' bodies are not mangled during the course of their battle, where the battle between the last two Saiyans begins. At first Vegeta is superior, proving that he is able to surpass Goku's speed and strength, even when he uses the Kaio-ken x2, but after Goku uses the Kaio-ken x3, much to the dismay of North Kaio, his power level rises to 24,000 and he overpowers the Saiyan Prince. Enraged and humiliated at being injured by a low-class Saiyan warrior, Vegeta threatens to destroy Earth with his Garlic Cannon technique, but Goku deflects it with a Kamehameha after powering up with the Kaio-ken x4, which leaves his body in devastation. Vegeta then creates an artificial moon (since Piccolo destroyed the Earth's moon to prevent Gohan from transforming into an Oozaru) and transforms himself into an Oozaru. Goku is terrorized by the Oozaru, and sadly realizes that (after remembering what Raditz said about his tail being the Saiyan's source of power) it was HIM that killed his grandfather by accident. Goku apologizes to his grandfather, and vows to defeat Vegeta for him. He battles the giant ape with all his might, but he is completely outclassed. In a desperate gamble, Goku blinds Vegeta with Tenshinhan's Taikyoken technique, flies off to hide from Vegeta and gathers energy for his second new technique, the Genki Dama. However, at the last second, Vegeta spots Goku and blasts him with a mouth blast, which knocks Goku away, mortally injuring him, and stops him from firing the Genki Dama; Vegeta then mercilessly stomps on Goku, crushing his legs. Gohan and Kuririn, sensing that something was wrong after noticing the artificial moon, arrive at the scene, later followed by Yajirobe, who had been hiding; they begin to help Goku before he's crushed by Vegeta's hands, and Yajirobe, while Gohan and Kuririn distracted Vegeta, succeeds in cutting off the Saiyan Prince's tail with his sword, reversing his transformation. Goku, seriously injured, pleads to Gohan to hold off Vegeta. While Gohan fights Vegeta with the last of his strength, Goku manages to store some of his Genki Dama he intended to fire towards Vegeta, and gives the energy to Kuririn, shaping it into the Genki Dama; he then fires it to Vegeta, but the Saiyan Prince sees it coming at the last second and dodges. Gohan then manages to deflect the blast towards Vegeta with it with the advice of Goku, blasting Vegeta into the sky.[4] Son Goku, transformed into an Oozaru. ... // (English TV: Chiaotzu) Chaozu ) is, seemingly, a small doll-like human with plain white skin, red cheeks, and a small mouth. ...

However, Vegeta is able to survive the Genki Dama (possibly because Goku had lost a good deal of its power when Vegeta prevented him from using it earlier), and seems to have won after creating a huge energy explosion that blows everyone away, until he spots Gohan's recently grown tail. Desperately trying to cut it off, Vegeta rushes over to Gohan, but is attacked by Yajirobe, who slashes his back with his sword, momentarily delaying him. In anger, Vegeta lashes out at him and knocks him into some mountains. Goku tells Gohan to stare at the artificial moon, transforming into an Oozaru himself. Gohan, however, can't tell friend from foe, since he can't control his conscience while in Oozaru mode, unlike Vegeta, who is an elite class warrior and can control his power. After Goku & Kuririn convince Gohan that Vegeta is the real enemy, Gohan launches an assault towards the Saiyan warrior. Although Vegeta is successful in cutting off Gohan's tail with an energy disk, the Oozaru falls onto Vegeta and leaves him too badly injured to continue the battle. Defeated, Vegeta summons his space pod and attempts to escape, but Kuririn threatens to finish him off with the sword that Yajirobe dropped earlier. However, Goku tells Kuririn to have mercy and let Vegeta go. Goku's reason for this is to prove that the people of Earth can be merciful, and that he believes Vegeta can learn from them. Eventually, Kuririn reluctantly allows to let the Saiyan Prince leave. Vegeta then escapes Earth, claiming that they'll regret letting him go and he will come back to destroy them all. Back in the Afterlife, North Kaio, though pleased that Goku and the others saved Earth, reflects that there is another greater evil besides the Saiyans lurking, and that this battle was only the beginning.[5]
