Encyclopedia > Salem Radio Network

Salem Communications is a Christian radio company operating in the United States, with 95 stations across the country that are primarily located in the nation's biggest markets. When counting the top 25 markets in the nation, Salem claims to be the third-biggest broadcaster. When purchasing radio stations, the company focuses on acquiring outlets with powerful transmitters. This is the opposite of how many Christian broadcasters operate, where a common practice is to gobble up large numbers of low-power translators.

Salem has three main services: Christian teaching, contemporary Christian music, and a news/talk format (Salem Radio Network).
