Samarahan or Kota Samarahan is a town, and the capital of the Samarahan District (407.1 square kilometers) in Samarahan Division, Sarawak, east Malaysia. Kota Samarahan is almost a suburb of greater Kuching. It has a concentration of universities and educational facilities and thus forms Sarawak's research and development centre.
