Samson was a heavy metal band formed in 1977 by guitarrist and vocalist Paul Samson. They are best known for their first three albums with future Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, then known as "Bruce Bruce", and drummer Thunderstick (real name Barry Graham), who wore a leather mask and performed on stage in a metal cage. Drummer Clive Burr was also member of the band, both before and after his time with Iron Maiden. The group effectively disbanded with Paul Samson's death to cancer on August 9, 2002. Paul Sampson was Samson's guitarist, as well as lead vocalist before Bruce Dickinson took over lead vocal duty.
They also appeared briefly in the movie Incubus (1981) as the band on stage when the titular creature attacks someone in the venue's toilets.

Bruce's last gig with the band was at the Reading Festival in 1981, a gig which was immortalised by the BBC and subsequently released on the album "Live at Reading 81".
