Amphoe Mueang Samut Prakan is the capital district of Samut Prakan province in Thailand. The district has the highest population of all districts of Thailand.
Tourist attractions
The two major touristical attractions of the province are located in the capital district. In Tambon Bang Pu Mai is Muang Boran or Ancient City, a park which shows downscaled replicas of all major historical buildings of Thailand. Also very popular is the Crocodile Farm im Tambon Tai Ban.
Administration
The district is subdivided into 13 communes (tambon), including the city center of Samut Prakan in Tambon Paknam. The missing geocodes in the table are the tambon which were split off at the creation of Amphoe Phra Samut Chedi.
SamutPrakan has countless tourist attractions such as historical sites, museums, old markets and indigenous lifestyles along the canals and shady orchards.
Phra Samut Chedi, a sacred stupa of SamutPrakan built by King Rama II (1809-1824), is over 180 years old.
