San Anton Palace, Malta, is a palace built at the time of the Knights as one of the residences for the Grand Master. During the British domination of Malta it was his residence aside from Verdala Palace in Buskett limits of Rabat. Now it is the residence of the President of Malta. Its also famous for its public garden, for the variation of trees and flowers planted there. Also it has a big orchard of citrus trees where it was a custom to the governor to give orange fruit gifts in Christmas. The palace is also surrounded by a private garden. The Knights Hospitaller (the or Knights of Malta or Knights of Rhodes) is a tradition which began as a Benedictine nursing Order founded in the 11th century based in the Holy Land, but soon became a militant Christian Chivalric Order under its own charter, and was charged with the care... The office of the President of Malta, known in Maltese as President ta Malta, came into being on 13th December 1974, when Malta became a republic within the Commonwealth. ...
