Political career

Kennedy started her political careeer in 1980 when Fort Wayne mayor Winfield Moses appointed her to the Fort Wayne Board of Public Works. In May 1983, she won a special election to serve the remained of the term left by her predecessor, Charles Westerman.


Later that year, she ran for and won a full-term as city clerk, and was been reelected in 1987, 1991, 1995, 1999 and 2003.


National politics

Although she shares a common last name, Sandra Kennedy is not related to the prominant Kennedy family of Massachusetts.
