Plot

During the night, something lurking in the darkness eats everything in the town, and is identified as an Alaskan Bull Worm. At the Krusty Krab, citiens share their ideas.

Patrick suggests moving the town to another location, while Sandy decides to fight the monster. She attempts to, but ends up defeating the worm's tongue instead of the actual worm itself.

SpongeBob and Sandy get chased by the worm, and Sandy helps herself and SpongeBob on top of the worm. They trick it into running off a cliff, and think they saved the town.

They head off to tell all of the citizens of Bikini Bottom. But sadly, the citizens of Bikini Bottom had decided to go with Patrick's idea to push Bikini Bottom somewhere else. The defeated worm lands right on the city, destroying it.

The crowd goes silent and stares at Patrick.

Trivia/Goofs

  • The mask worn by SpongeBob was also seen in Karate Choppers.
  • There are two parodies of the movie Jaws: The first is when Mr. Krabs says,"No one's brave enough to take on an Alaskan Bull Worm!", and an old fish with a claw for a hand scratches on of the windows in the Krusty Krab, making the sound Quint makes when scratching the chalkboard. The second is when Sandy exclaims, "I'll catch 'yer worm for ya!", subsituting the great white shark with the worm.
  • Sandy sees a sign which reads "worm" and exclaims "Worm sign!" This is a reference to the disturbance in the sand created by a sandworm in Dune.
  • While the worm crushes the city and its citizens (except for Sandy and SpongeBob), everything and everybody is fine in the next episode, "The Algae's Always Greener" in the third season.
  • The Alaskan Bull Worm is small enough for it to go through the city and to eat SpongeBob's house at the beginning of the episode. But when it fell off of the cliff, it was big enough to crush all of Bikini Bottom.
  • This episode:
    • Closes season 2.
    • Also parodies the movie Tremors.
    • Shows captions without needing them.
