Arts

In downtown Sanger is a mural of German born actress Nastassja Kinski. This was created in 1982 by Sanger native artist Jose Maro Alvarado now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. The artist attended Sanger High School in the 70's and then went to UC Santa Barbara where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. He has been working and showing his art ever since. He is currently creating gum arabic paintings and showing them internationally.


Sanger High School

Sanger's high school is a medium-large school. The school's mascot is an Apachie. About 450 students graduate from Sanger High each year.


Sanger High School moved into a new facility at 1045 Bethel Ave during the 2000 school year. The school received a California Distinguished High School Award for their academic improvement during the 2004-2005 school year. Mr. Dan Chacon is the current principal of Sanger High School. The Apache football team receives a tremendous amount of fan support, which may be a factor in the success of the program, along with their head coach Chuck Shidan.
