Life

In 1978, Bayar completed his law degree at the state university in Moscow. From 1979 to 1983 he served in the General Staff of Mongolia, with the rank of an officer. From 1983 to 1988 Bayar worked as journalist and editor in the Montsame and Mongolpress news agencies. From 1990 to 1992 he was member of the Small Khural. From 1992 to 1997 he taught at the Academy of social sciences, studied in Washington, DC, and was director of the Mongolian Ministry of Defense's Institute for Strategic Studies. From 1997 to 2001 he was the chairman of the Mongolian president's office, and from 2001 to 2005 Mongolian ambassador in Moscow. For other uses, see Moscow (disambiguation). ... Political career

Bayar joined the MPRP in 1988. He became General Secretary of the party in 2005 and was - by 377 to 229 votes - elected chairman of the Party on a party congress in October 2007, over Miyeegombyn Enkhbold.
