Sanskar are religious rituals of perfecting in hinduism. In various religious texts, one may find the importance of it. For a man,to attain variou worldly pleasures it is required that he must be civillized which means he must learn to do everything properly. To learn everything properly is known as sanskar.
From early time only there remains a dispute between experts on the total number of sanskar. As per written in Gautamsmriti there are 48 of them, Maharshi Agnirane directed of 25 of them but according to puranas 16 of them are main and necessary.
