Current Years
Santos Laguna started the Clasura 2007 in danger of being relagated to the second division. Despite buying many Stars such as: Oswaldo Sanchez, Daniel Ludueña, Juan Pablo Rodriguez, and the return of Vicente Matías Vuoso. The team started the season with a defeat from Club Montterey even though Santos were the favorites. Santos continued the season as sort of an average season. Not winning a single game till week 8 against Morelia they started to play great, yet still on the verge of relagation up until the last game when Queretaro could not defeat Atlas. Along with staying another year in the 1st Division they were also able to make the Wild Card going up against San Luis. The 1st leg San Luis went up 2-1 at Santos home. The 2nd leg was an exciting one. Santos advancing to the quarter finals on last minute goal by Walter Jimenez. The Quarter finals Santos played great tying both games against the favorite to win the championship, Pachuca. However, since pachuca were in a higher place on the table they advanced despite ending in a stalemate with Santos. The start of the Apertura 2007 for Santos was a promising one 1st defeating Cruz Azul 2-0 at home and then defeating Toluca 3-2 away. Santos has showed that they will be the team to beat and are one of the favorites to win the Apertura this season.
