Santos Ltd. is Australia's largest oil company. Incorporated on 18th March, 1954, the name is derived from an acronym for South Australia Northern Territory Oil Search. Following a number of great oil and gas discoveries in Australia's outback, Santos expanded internationally to countries like the United States of America and the United Kingdom. A recent publishing by Santos Ltd. indicates an increase in production of 12%, and increase of revenue by 26%, in comparison with the second quarter to 30th June 2004. By the end of 2003, Santos had a market capitalisation of $4.0 Billion, making it one of Australia's top 50 companies.

Santos is involved in many Australian community activities, such as the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Santos also owns several structures, such as Santos House and Santos Stadium.
