Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (IATA: AMD, ICAO: VAAH) is India's seventh busiest airport with an average of 150 aircraft movements a day. It services the metropolitan areas of two cities in the State of Gujarat, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and is located 8 km (5.0 mi) from the Ahmedabad Railway Station. It is named after statesman and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The airport is spread over an area of 1,124 acres (4.55 km²) with the runway measuring 11,811 ft (3,600 m). The airport is served by seven international carriers and various domestic carriers. The airport

The airport consists of the international terminal, domestic and cargo terminals. These terminals use the same airside facilities but are physically separated on the landside, requiring a 5 minute drive between them. The airport has 10 parking bays and another 30 are under construction. Currently the airport is undergoing massive renovation on both the domestic and the international terminals. Domestic terminal

A new domestic terminal was opened which has doubled the passenger handling capacity than before. The new domestic departure terminal has 20 check-in counters, four aerobridges and three boarding gates. The domestic departure also has a 5-star restaurant on the first-floor, a book shop, a handicrafts store, a retail clothing store and the VIP Lounge on the ground floor and a few snacks counters. The new arrival terminal has three luggage belts, a snack counter, Centrum foreign exchange counter, a pre-paid taxi desk and VIP Lounge. International terminal

Currently a new international terminal is under construction that will be double the size of the present terminal. The present terminal has 15 check-in counters serving seven airlines. The departure hall has a restaurant, a duty-free shop, a book-cum-gift shop and other basic amenities. The arrival hall consists of one entry gate, two luggage belts, a foreign exchange counter and a snack stall.
