Background

Sasori, known as Sasori of the Red Sand (赤砂のサソリ Akasuna no Sasori?), was left in the care of his grandmother, Chiyo, after the deaths of his parents. Chiyo taught Sasori all that she knew about puppetry, and Sasori quickly proved to be very adept with the art. Using this newfound ability, Sasori converted the bodies of his parents into puppets in an effort to feel his parents' love. Because they were only emotionless puppets, this effort failed, and Sasori descended into darkness. The Land of Wind ) is a geographical feature in the Naruto anime and manga series. ... Ultimately, Sasori would leave Sunagakure twenty years prior to his introduction. Prior to his departure he left behind a number of puppets he created that have since fallen into the possession of Kankuro.[1] He also kidnapped and killed the Third Kazekage around this time, though nobody ever discovered that he was the one responsible.[2] Sometime after leaving the village, Sasori joined Akatsuki and was eventually paired with Orochimaru. After Orochimaru left Akatsuki, Sasori was teamed up with Deidara, though he always carried a grudge against his former partner. In an effort to exact revenge upon Orochimaru for betraying the organization, Sasori inserted Kabuto Yakushi into Orochimaru's ranks as a spy to relay Orochimaru's doings to Akatsuki. Personality

In his partnership with Deidara, the two argue quite frequently, specifically due to their conflicting views of art. Deidara holds that art is something transient that departs quickly, where as Sasori believes that fine art is something wonderful that is left long into the future. This reflects their individual natures (Deidara makes clay sculptures that explode, Sasori makes long-lasting puppets out of humans). Deidara outwardly seems to respect Sasori's beliefs, though Sasori doesn't respect Deidara's. As a member of Akatsuki, Sasori is assigned to capture one of the tailed beasts, though a short dialogue between himself and Deidara suggests that he does not even know what beast he has been assigned to target.[3] The demon fox, the most powerful of the tailed beasts. ...

Abilities

Sasori inside Hiruko

Sasori is a master of puppetry, and uses puppets almost exclusively in battle. During regular combat he usually wears his puppets like armor and controls them from the inside, thus eliminating the puppeteer's weakness of being a separate and exposed target.[4] Sasori's favorite puppet to use in this manner is Hiruko (ヒルコ?), which he adorns with the regular Akatsuki outfit and wears so often that others have come to recognize him only while he is wearing it. Hiruko has a mechanical scorpion tail extending from its back, and is capable of firing shrapnel from its arms and mouth. Image File history File links Hiruko. ... Although Sasori is in at least his thirties, he maintains the appearance of a teenage boy. This unnaturally young appearance is a product of his design: most of his body is actually a puppet.[5] As a puppet he has given himself a number of extra weapons, ranging from flamethrowers to extra arms. Installed in his right chest is a mechanism that can spin numerous chakra strings, allowing Sasori to control hundreds of puppets. Sasori's left chest holds the only part of him still human and thus capable of controlling chakra: a cylinder-shaped device containing his heart. Because his heart is the only living part of himself, his puppet body is virtually indestructible as he can pull himself back together when smashed apart.[6] Additionally, he can transfer his heart to other puppets, allowing him to abandon a body should it be damaged beyond repair or otherwise incapacitated. How he transfers his facial features is not explained, though since he only does this once it can be assumed that he has a spare version of his puppet body.

The majority of Sasori's puppets are made from the bodies of humans. Once the entrails are removed, the blood has been drawn out, and the body is preserved so that it no longer decomposes, it can be used as a Human Puppet (人傀儡 Hitokugutsu?). Because these puppets were once human they are capable of using chakra and performing jutsu, giving them a drastic advantage over the average puppet.[7] Including himself, Sasori claims to have 298 human puppets, 102 of which he is actually seen using.[8] His favorite human puppet is that of the Third Kazekage, which retains its unique Iron Sand ability to be used by Sasori to great effect. Through Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets (赤秘技・百機の操演 Aka Higi: Hyakki no Sōen?), Sasori can summon one hundred human puppets to be used as an army, each of which was once an opponent he has since defeated. Sasori claims that he brought down an entire country with this jutsu. Disembowelment is evisceration, or the removing of some or all of vital organs, usually from the abdomen. ...

In addition to his puppets, Sasori is also a master of poisons; his poisons take effect instantly and kill the target after three days of suffering.[9] These poisons are practically incurable, even by Chiyo, who is herself a master of poisons. To use their potency to his advantage, Sasori adds the poison to nearly every weapon in his arsenal, ensuring that every blow an opponent receives is potentially lethal.

Death

After Deidara captures Gaara and the One-Tailed Shukaku sealed within him is extracted by Akatsuki, A rescue team arrives in an attempt to save Gaara. As Deidara leads half of Team Kakashi away, Sasori is left to face Sakura Haruno and Chiyo, his grandmother. Soon after the battle begins, Sakura is able to destroy Hiruko with Chiyo's help (Chiyo controls Sakura like a puppet, having more experience in such matters). After he brings out his Third Kazekage puppet, Sasori uses its Iron Sand to attack and overwhelm Chiyo and Sakura. To try and combat the Kazekage, Chiyo brings out the puppets of Sasori's parents that he left behind in Sungakure. Although Chiyo has since equipped them with extra weapons, the Kazekage's abilities quickly disable the two. Sakura eventually demolishes the Kazekage by pretending to pass out and smashing it to pieces when it goes in for the kill. Gaara ) is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Naruto. ... With the loss of the Kazekage puppet, Sasori begins attacking with his own body, its puppet additions allowing him many advantages over Chiyo and Sakura. When Chiyo brings out her own ten puppets in an attempt to level the playing field, Sasori summons his own one hundred puppet army. Although his forces greatly outnumber Chiyo's puppets, her puppets are designed to work together, a trait lacking with all of Sasori's puppets. While her puppets fare far better than his, they are eventually overwhelmed by attrition. During the battle, Sakura attempts to seal away Sasori's chakra with a special orb from one of Chiyo's puppets, but misses his heart and only catches his body. Using the seal as a distraction, Sasori makes it appear as if she succeeded and attempts a sneak attack on Chiyo. Sakura takes the attack for Chiyo, giving Chiyo the chance to use Sasori's parent puppets to stab him through the heart in the form of a hug.[10]

As a reward to Sakura for defeating him, Sasori informs her of the spy that he has within Orochimaru's ranks, and tells her of when and where she can meet him.[11] As Sasori dies, Chiyo implies that she and Sakura did not defeat Sasori, but that he allowed himself to be defeated, choosing to die in the loving embrace of his parents.[12]
