Plot

Sati is a program created by her "Father" Rama-Kandra and "Mother" Kamala. Sati is scheduled for deletion because she has no purpose, born only out of love. Although as possiblity a side effect to her existence, she appears to have some control over the weather. This is indicated by the fact that Agent Smith was able to change the weather conditions to his liking (and mood) after absorbing Sati. Sati once again demonstrates her weather controlling ability by altering the colour of the sky after the the war with the machines in honour of Neo who had died. To save her, Rama-Kandra sells the deletion codes for the shell of the Oracle to The Merovingian. He does this at the Le Vrai restaurant, where Neo (in The Matrix Reloaded) sees Rama-Kandra being led out as he enters. In exchange for the codes, Sati is smuggled into the Matrix through the Mobil Avenue train station where she will be put under the care of the Oracle. Sati was reborn as Parvati (Paarvati, the daughter of the mountain or Parvata), and reappears as Shiva's consort.
By extension from the mythic Sati, the term is also used for the death, voluntary or involuntary, of widows on the funeral pyres of their husbands in India.
Basically the custom of Sati was believed to be a voluntary Hindu act in which the woman voluntary decides to end her life with her husband after his death.
