Sauget is a village located in St. Clair County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 249.
Geography Sauget is located at 38°35'13" North, 90°10'0" West (38.587013, -90.166690)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 11.5 km˛ (4.4 mi˛). 10.7 km˛ (4.1 mi˛) of it is land and 0.8 km˛ (0.3 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 7.19% water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 249 people, 101 households, and 61 families residing in the village. The population density is 23.3/km˛ (60.3/mi˛). There are 115 housing units at an average density of 10.8/km˛ (27.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 70.28% White, 27.71% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.40% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 101 households out of which 27.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.6% are married couples living together, 21.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.6% are non-families. 30.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 3.05.
In the village the population is spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
