Schermer (population: 4,900 in 2004) is a municipality in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 64.44 kmē (of which 2.89 kmē water).


The municipality of Schermer consists the following towns, villages and townships: Driehuizen, Grootschermer, Oterleek, Schermerhorn, Stompetoren, Zuidschermer.

Schermer is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland.
Around 800 AD the area that now the municipality of Schermer was covered in peat, and a small river called the Schermer flowed through it.
The municipality of Schermer consists of the following cities, towns, villages and/or districts: Driehuizen, Grootschermer, Oterleek, Schermerhorn, Stompetoren, Zuidschermer.

Schermer was a part of the National Champion 200 and 400 freestyle relay squads in 1991.
Schermer’s 400 individual medley school record (4:29.19) and her 400 medley relay school record (3:51.92) are still intact today.
Schermer graduated in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and she is currently working as a substitute teacher in the Bloomfield Hills Schools.
