This article has been tagged since August 2007. (help, talk, get involved!) | Scorpio is an astrological sign, which originated from the constellation Scorpius, and is the eighth sign of the zodiac. Scorpio is classed as a negative or feminine, introverted sign; its element is water and its quality is fixed. [1] Traditionally in astrology Scorpio is ruled by the planet Mars, and in modern times also by Pluto. Some modern astrologers consider Pluto to be a more appropriate rulership over the sign, citing the reason for Mars having initially ruled the sign being that Pluto had not yet been discovered.[2] The opposite sign to Scorpio is Taurus. Under the tropical zodiac, Scorpio is typically occupied by the Sun from October 24 to November 21, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from November 16 through December 15. In astrology the astrological signs represent twelve equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrological beliefs, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs at the same time are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression.[3] The scientific community generally considers astrology as a pseudoscience or superstition.[4][5] ; yet despite this, belief in astrology remains widespread.[6][7][8][9] Hand-coloured version of the anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). ...
