Scott Litt is an American record producer who mostly works with artists in the alternative rock genre and is probably best known for producing six R.E.M. albums (Document, 1987; Green, 1988; Out of Time, 1991; Automatic for the People, 1992; Monster, 1994; and New Adventures in Hi-Fi, 1996). In 1998, R.E.M. and Litt discontinued their cooperation and the band had Patrick McCarthy produce their subsequent albums. Litt then returned to engineering duties for several years, going back to producing in 1986 with Matthew Sweet's Inside and Beat Rodeo's Home in the Heart of the Beat.
