Biography

Meeting Kevin Smith

Mosier met Smith at the Vancouver Film School in Canada. Their first assignment, Mae Day, was a student film documentary that fell apart in production. To salvage it, Smith and Mosier interviewed the crew about the demise of the very documentary that they had been attempting to produce. They also added a segment in which the two were shown in silhouette as they described their fictional thoughts. Vancouver Film School (founded in 1987 by James Griffin)is an arts institute located in dowtown Vancouver, BC, Canada, has emerged one of the best specialty schools of its kind in the world routinely producing award-winning students. ...


Four months into the eight month program, Kevin Smith decided to drop out, but not before making a deal with Mosier: each would start writing a script of their own, and the one who finished last would help the other with his movie.


Working with View Askew

In the film Clerks, Mosier recorded the orginal sound on the set, edited the movie (at RST Video), and contributed to the budget. He also contributed by appearing on-screen as two characters: the angry hockey player and Willam Black (a.k.a Snowball), a role later played by Ethan Suplee in Mallrats. Additionally, his hockey player role on the ladder talking to Willam on the ground, as Kevin Smith describes it, is "the only special effect in Clerks. While making Dogma, Mosier worked with Laura Greenlee again. He had a good time producing, but the toughest task was the editing, which lasted nearly a year. He also played the Smooching Seaman that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon meet on the bus. During Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Mosier had a much eaiser time producing, with a budget of $20 million. The editing was once again an arduous task as the MPAA was threating to give the film the dreaded NC-17 rating. Mosier also played the Assistant Director and reprises the Willam Black character from Clerks. He also reprised the Tracer Collector from Chasing Amy, but it was cut. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is the fifth movie from Kevin Smith, famous for his cult films Clerks. ... For Jersey Girl, Scott had a very large budget of $35 million, but less fun due to lack of the usual rememberal crew from the previous films. The editing was also arduous, due to the studio wanting to cut down the large amout of Jennifer Lopez/Ben Affleck footage after the absolute box office bomb Gigli. Scott also served as an editor for a few non-Askew related films and Bryan Johnson's Vulgar (film), an Askew production. He had also served as a producer (along with Kevin Smith) on Drawing Flies,A Better Place and Clerks: The Animated Series; he also served as an co-executive producer on Good Will Hunting and Big Helium Dog. He also did cameos in Drawing Files as the Crying Diaperman, in A Better Place as Larry and in Vulgar as Scotty. Bryan Johnson (born January 18, 1978) is an American football fullback. ... Christopher Mosier would have been 25 next month if he hadn't been stabbed to death in 1993, and his father, Scott, said Tuesday that he misses his son every day and still remembers him as a 14-year-old kid.
Scott Mosier got a chance to speak in court Tuesday at the sentencing of Terry Louis Johnson, who was convicted in June of killing Christopher.
Outside the courtroom, Scott Mosier said the sentencing was anticlimactic although necessary.
