Steiner later aligned himself with WWE Diva Stacy Keibler before turning heel by betraying her and forming a tag team with his rival Test. The team split up, with the former partners competing for the managerial services of Stacy. Test later defeated Steiner at Unforgiven, with Steiner having agreed to become Test's manservant if he lost. The duo competed as a tag team until Steiner suffered an injury and was out for eight weeks. At the time, neither man was being used much in meaningful matches or feuds. Hence, the WWE decided to buy his contract out. Steiner never regained his WCW-level of success in the WWE, partly due to the WWE not being sure how to use him, and partly due to the faster and more athletic wrestling style of the WWE that he wasn't able to keep up with (his muscle bulk and leg injuries had significantly slowed him down).
