Scottish Division One is the highest division of the Scottish Football League and the second highest in the Scottish football league system.


The division contains ten teams and each year the top team may be promoted to the Scottish Premier League, pending the correct stadium criteria. The bottom two are relegated to Division Two. The teams play each other four times with three points for a victory and one point each for a drawn game.

The 9th (Scottish) Division, was one of the Kitchener's Army New Army, often referred to as Kitchener's Army, was an all-volunteer army formed following the outbreak of hostilities in World War I. It was formed after the recommendation from the then-Secretary of State for War in the United Kingdom, Horatio Kitchener.

The 9th (Scottish) Division, was one of the Kitchener's Army divisions raised from volunteers by Lord Kitchener to serve on the Western Front during the First World War.
In the Battle of Loos, notable for being the first battle in which British forces used poison gas, the 9th (Scottish) Division assaulted the Hohenzollern Redoubt, the 5th Camerons suffered horrific casualties, and Corporal J. Pollock gained a Victoria Cross for his actions.
Notably it relieved the 30th Division at Montauban and later attacked German positions at Bernafay Wood, where it succeeded in capturing vital objectives and forcing a German withdrawal.
