The current holder of the trophy is Tayport F.C., who defeated Lochee United F.C. 2-0 in a local derby final, both teams being from the Dundee area. OVD Demerara Rum company has sponsored the tournament for the last eighteen years. The name OVD has become synonymous with the competition, so much so that the cup is sometimes simply referred to as the OVD Cup.

The cup's long term sponsor, the OVD Demerara Rum company, who, as of 2006, had an eighteen year-long association with the competition withdrew their backing before the start of the 2006-07 competition.
