The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) is the co-ordinating body of trade unions in Scotland. It is a separate organisation from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) of England and Wales. The current head of the STUC is Bill Speirs.

The Scottish Parliament (Scottish Gaelic: PĂ rlamaid na h-Alba; Scots: Scots Pairlament) is the national unicameral legislature of Scotland, in the capital Edinburgh.
Initial Scottish proposals in the negotiation over the Union suggested a devolved Parliament be retained in Scotland but this was not accepted by the English negotiators.
Although the vote was 52% in favour of a Scottish Assembly, this figure did not equal the 40% of the total electorate threshold deemed necessary to pass the measure, as 32.9% of the eligible voting population had abstained from voting.

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) is the co-ordinating body of trade unions, and local Trades Councils, in Scotland.
The STUC is a completely separate and autonomous organisation from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Great Britain; indeed it was established in March 1897, in Glasgow, as a result of a political dispute with the TUC regarding political representation for the Labour movement (see Labour Party)[1].
