Scratch is a documentary film directed by Doug Pray about disc jockeys (DJs) and hip-hop culture released in 2001. It includes cultural and historical perspectives on the birth and evolution of disc jockeys and scratching, and includes interviews with some of hip-hop's most famous and respected DJs.


Interviewees include: DJ Qbert, Z-Trip, Mix Master Mike, Rob Swift, DJ Premier, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzy Jay, Cut Chemist, NuMark, DJ Craze, DJ Shadow, Babu, and DJ Krush.

Scratch is an eye-opener, not just on how prevalent scratching is but how musical and talented its practitioners must be in order to make a name for themselves.
The movie was shot on film, giving it as good a look as can be hoped for, but you don’t watch this film for the amazing visuals.
