Unlike most entertainment review sites, however, Screen It! is geared towards parents, reviewing a film with the detail that would help parents decide if their child should see a film. When first entering the website, there is a subscription offer, but anyone can use the site for free.

Screen It! has been available since July 1996, and is run by a husband and wife team. The information on the website is intended to help parents determine which films they will allow their children to see, based on the content in the film. In addition to movies, reviews for newly and recently released videos can also be found on the site as well.

Mostly there are only current movies that are reviewed on the website. There is a brief plot summary, the MPAA rating and reasons for it, cast and crew, as well as a link to Internet Movie Database, to find what other people rated the film. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is a non-profit trade association formed to advance the interests of movie studios. ... The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is an online database of information about actors, films, television shows, video games and production crew personnel. ...

  • Blood/Gore
  • Disrespectful/Bad Attitude
  • Frightening/Tense Scenes
  • Guns/Weapons
  • Imitative Behavior
  • Jump Scenes
  • Music (Scary/Tense)
  • Music (Inappropriate)
  • Profanity
  • Sex/Nudity
  • Smoking
  • Tense Family Scenes

  • Minor or
  • None

under each category. Clicking on the category will jump to the part of the page that lists, in detail, any actions, comments, and situations in the film that are applicable to the respective category, which would help a parent decide whether to permit his child to see the film.
