Sean Hughes (born John Hughes, London, November 19, 1965) is an Irish comedian who, whilst being born in London, spent much of his youth in Firhouse, Dublin. Whilst working part time in a London supermarket he came across the Comedy Store, and was determined to work there in the future. In 1987 he started working in The Comedy Store, and with his show, 'A One Night Stand With Sean Hughes' he became the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award. In the early 1990s he had his own TV show, Sean's Show. As well as comedy, he has also written collections of prose and poetry and worked on a number of films. He also presented weekend radio shows on the BBC's London radio station BBC GLR, and in 2002 joined BBC 6 Music, presenting the Sunday morning programme.
