MyWestTexas.com - Kel Seliger begins race for senate seat (470 words)
Just like Bivins did two years ago, Seliger officially kicked off his election bid in Howard County, showing respect for the newest member of the district and at the same time serving a warning to the other candidates in the race that the former mayor of Amarillo will be a most formidable candidate.
Seliger, though, is currently the lone candidate from the northern half of the district, a luxury which made his trip into Howard County possible this early in the campaign.
Seliger, who recently gave up his place on the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to run for state senate, is also well-versed in school finance and other education issues; however, he warns no one is just going to Austin and wave a magic wand to improve Texas' school situation.
