SatsumaSendai (薩摩川内市; -shi) is a city located in Kagoshima, Japan.


In 2004 the city had an estimated population of 104,102 in a total area of 683.49 kmē, giving a population density of 152.31 persons per kmē.


The city was established on October 12, 2004 when the city of Sendai , the towns of Hiwaki, Iriki, Kedoin, Togo and the villages of Sato, Kamikoshiki, Shimokoshiki, and Kashima merged to form one new city.
