American Revolution: John Paul Jones Captures HMS Serapis (234 words)
September 23, 1779 - In a naval battle off Flamborough Head, John Paul Jones and Bonhomme Richard (left) captures HMS Serapis.
Turning to intercept, Jones engaged the convoy's escorts HMS Serapis and HMS Countess of Scarborough.
